I worked with students from local art academies at Arqueologia, the former gold foundry of the Imperial Palace in Rio de Janeiro. The piece was in memory of the abandoned street kids who were slain by the police while sleeping on the steps of nearby Candelaria in a clean up before a World Summit. The students brought their own imagery of guns, disembodied hands, and sea creatures to the installation.

Colored gels filter the lights to mimic the fire of the foundry and the gold that was once produced there. All the pieces disappeared back into the city afterwards.
